The First testing dates for the CAHSEE were last spring, and the test will be given again this spring at your student's high school. The English/Language Arts portion of the test will be given on March 5th and the 6th, 2002, and the Mathematics portion of the test will be given on March 7th, 2002. Results of the exam will be returned to the students as quickly as possible after the test administration. Students will have many opportunities throughout their high school career to retake any portion of the exam not previously passed.
In addition your student will be required to pass Algebra 1 as a graduation requirement. State law authorized this new requirement in the year 2000. Students will still be required to complete two years of math, but at least one year must include successful completion of Algebra 1 or higher math. I encourage you and your student to work closely with the high school counselor to ensure all coursework needed for graduation is completed in a timely manner.

Our goal on these two days is to provide as optimum a testing environment as possible for our 9th graders and also to minimize the disruption for our 10, 11 and 12th grade students. We will be utilizing the Lecture Hall and Gymnasium on these two mornings to test our 9th graders in mass. Our class bell schedule will run as usual with the exception of March 7th when we will run periods 1-5 before lunch.
With your support this will be a practical and rewarding experience for our students. Our 9th grade students will receive an item by item analysis of their practice HSEE results.
